"I had some old family rings that I took into a jewelry store. 4 to be exact and a gold tooth. Two of the rings had diamonds, 11 diamonds total in both rings . I was given a poor price for all combined at the jewelry store. It was insulting.
Took them next to Stringtown Jewelry and Pawn. I was immediately hit with a small town feel the second I walked in the door. The employees were working but at the same time chatting it up with a few guys hanging around the shop. One woman was being helped and had some sort of transaction so I waited all the while examining the space and admiring the shop for what It was.
I pulled one ring out instead of all them to try to get a feel for what one ring would be worth vs showing all my cards I had. The shopkeep was honest with me. Showed me merchandise he had that was similar to mine and told me the reality of what I was looking at being a seller with this type of product in the market.
Offered me a fair price for all the gold I had and even made me aware of the profit he was going to make from selling the gold. The offer he gave me was more than what I was offered at the jewelry store that specializes in diamond rings.
The guy then popped all the diamonds out for me, showed me how to clean them, and then gave me realistic expectations for what I could expect for selling the diamonds loose.
He even offered to introduce me to guys that would buy the diamonds loose.
I'm not from that area otherwise I probably would have taken his help. but it was the honesty that I valued especially after feeling like I was being lowballed in a higher end jewelry store. I recommend Stringtown Jewelry and Pawn for honest, fair prices and above and beyond customer service. Thank you for the experience and honesty."
